Last weekend was the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's Spring Fly-in at Clare in the mid North of South Australia. I had a family commitment on the Saturday, so I popped up on Sunday morning to see as many planes as I could before they departed.
There was still a reasonable selection of planes there, both old and some not so old.
My favourite of the day was this beautiful 1946 Luscombe Silvaire (VH-SIL) which had made the 6 hour flight from southern Victoria.
Another plane I'm always happy to see in the De Havilland Tiger Moth. VH-WRL was built in 1944
Also of 1946 vintage was VH-BYB, a Globe GC-1B Swift
There were also a few older Cessnas there, with two Cessna 180s and a Cessna 140. VH-BVQ is a Cessna 180 built in 1955, VH-MTF is a Cessna 180A built in 1957 and the Cessna 140 was built in 1946 (VH-YBY).
Slightly more modern, but still of interest were a 1975 CT-4A AirTrainer VH-WCT painted as RAAF A19-039, and a Corby CJ-1 Starlet 19-3284 which was built in someone's garage! and first flew in 1991.
